Julia and Ian decided to shoot for an beautiful island wedding here on the coast of Maine. Their day was filled with loving family and friends who gathered at the Lions Club on Peaks Island, Portland Maine. Their wedding was filled with adorable classic American decor and tiny picnic baskets as a reflection of one of the couples favorite things to do together. They also had our Photo Camper join in on the party ! It was a blast getting that camper on the boat over there, so we now know it is totally doable, I mean who doesn’t love some photo booth action?!
One of my favorite highlights of the day was the storm… A big thunderstorm rolled in but magically cleared before the ceremony, these little moments seem huge the day of but as always everything works out! The night was filled with amazing heartfelt speeches, along with a rap by the brides father, and a sweet birthday celebration for their nephew. This couple really focused their day on family and friends which made it ever so sweet.
Thank you for allowing me to capture your beautiful wedding day Ian & Julia and most of all CONGRATS!!!
Love & Joy
Siobhan
What was your favorite moment/ memory of your wedding day?
-
The first look! One hour before the ceremony a thunderstorm rolled in and all of our carefully laid plans went out the window! It was a stressful hour watching sheets of rain pour in but, moments before our first look the sky cleared so, when I saw Ian, I was so relieved and from that moment on loved every moment of our wedding day.
-
We met through a mutual friend at the Beehive (a jazz bar in Boston). I lost my wallet that night and he did everything in his power to help me retrieve it, my prince charming!
-
Extend the celebrations! The week leading up to the wedding, we invited friends for BBQs, bar crawls, etc and it was so fun to catch up with friends and family and for guests to get to know one another before the big day! And, keep a journal!
-
I would’ve asked my caterer to box up leftover dessert! We both missed it entirely.
-
Ian proposed in our apartment after cooking a gourmet and very fancy dinner. When I saw the champagne in the fridge, I knew it was coming so, I hopped to it and showered and got in a cute outfit.
-
I loved every second of wedding planning! However, with resources like pinterest and so many blogs, it was hard to make a decision.
-
My mom and bridesmaids were an INCREDIBLE team. They truly were the backbone of the event, leading me in mediation, pampering me, and most importantly, when that rain storm blew in, they kept everything together!
-
We went on a mini-moon to Camden, ME! It is a quick trip from Portland and there we went to a vineyard, hiking, swimming, a schooner trip and fabulous food!
-
Ian (about Julia – fav): optimism and energy; peeve: not fully closing lids on jars. Julia to Ian, fave: humor and fun-loving spirit, peeve: leaving golf club out
