As many of you know I finally have a space to work!! Woot woot,we literally raised that roof! No more couch editing/emailing (ok limited, because small business owners always work)
My husband and I were looking at places to rent and knew we couldn’t swing it finically so we decided to build a shed. The costs equalled up to 3 months of studio rent so it should pay off soon. When planning the layout we knew it needed a little more attention than your typical shed plans. We wanted/needed insulation, windows for passive solar heating, higher ceilings , electricity, and storage space. Guess what we did .. and we did it all on our own 🙂 My husband is a gem and super handy! We wanted to create a cozy space that could act as a “lifestyle session spot” along with client meetings. Lastly I hope to tie in the space for tutoring students as an after school option. I have a k-12 Special ed certification, and hope this space can also be used for blending education and creativity.
It is a small and mighty space, there is not enough room for large family shoots, but it has a great purpose. I finally have a place to “go to work” and save on gas too 🙂
Here are a few pics to show the inside, along with some photos that have been taken in the space. So it’s official we are up and running for children studio portraits, small family, head shots and product shots.
I’m looking forward to the spring to plant some gardens around it and work while watching my kids play outside 🙂
a few studio photos…
