A Golden Hour Family Session on the Maine Coast | Maine Family Photographer

There is something magical about summer evenings on the Maine coast. The warm golden light, rocky shoreline, gentle ocean breeze, and the laughter of children exploring together create the perfect backdrop for meaningful family photographs.

This recent family session captured everything I love about being a Maine family photographer. Set along one of Maine’s beautiful rocky beaches, this family embraced the relaxed pace of the evening, allowing space for genuine connection and authentic moments.

The sisters arrived in coordinating white dresses that reflected the soft coastal light beautifully. Some of my favorite images from the session came from simply letting them be themselves—walking hand in hand along the shoreline, sharing quiet smiles, and laughing together in the grass. Their bond was undeniable and made for some truly timeless portraits.

As the sun began to set, we explored the rocky coastline, creating a mix of traditional family portraits and candid moments. The natural textures of the Maine shoreline paired perfectly with their simple wardrobe choices, creating a classic New England feel that will never go out of style.

One of the highlights of the evening was including the family’s beloved dogs in a few photographs. Pets are often an important part of a family’s story, and I always love helping families preserve those memories as well.
